Nearly 9 Million Download Gospel of John as Global Digital Outreach Surge

Nearly 9 million people worldwide downloaded a digital copy of the Gospel of John during a nine-month period, signaling a growing hunger for Scripture across the globe.
According to data released by The Pocket Testament League, the Christian ministry’s outreach appeared in more than 750 million search-engine results between Oct. 1, 2025, and June 30, 2026. Users downloaded the Gospel through the organization’s Read Carry Share mobile application at an average rate of approximately 1 million copies per month.
Since the app launched in late 2020, it has surpassed 30 million downloads. Nearly one-third of those occurred during the latest reporting period, demonstrating the expanding role of digital platforms in sharing the Gospel.
“The numbers are extraordinary, but what matters most is the person behind every search,” said David Collum, CEO of The Pocket Testament League. “Every search represents someone looking for something.”
India recorded more than 3.68 million downloads, while Bangladesh followed with nearly 1.48 million. Strong engagement was also reported across Africa, South Asia, and the Middle East, including in countries where access to traditional Christian materials may be limited or restricted. Those nations included Iran, Afghanistan, Yemen, Sudan, Algeria, Pakistan, Cuba, and Iraq.
Founded in 1893, The Pocket Testament League has historically equipped Christians with printed, pocket-sized portions of Scripture. The ministry now combines physical distribution with mobile technology and international partnerships.
The ministry estimates that its outreach has encouraged more than 200 million people worldwide to engage with Scripture. Looking ahead, leaders aim to reach another 100 million people over the next three years by expanding printed Gospel distribution, strengthening international ministry partnerships, and leveraging digital platforms to bring God’s Word to people wherever they are.
