Christian Rocker Exposes Canada’s Anti-Christian Bias

Christian Rocker Exposes Canada's Anti-Christian Bias - Revival Nation - Blog

In the past week, American Christian worship leader and musician Sean Feucht has faced more resistance than ever before on his “Revive in 25” tour of Canada. What was a planned series of worship services to unite believers in prayer and worship has been the center of a broader cultural and ideological struggle.

Various Canadian municipalities, including Halifax, Quebec City, Charlottetown, Moncton, Gatineau, and Vaughan, have all cancelled or rejected permits for Feucht’s events, citing “concerns for public safety” and public opposition.

After the cancellations, a Montreal church opened its doors to Feucht and was fined $2,500 for hosting his concert. Why? Because he didn’t have a permit. This sets a dangerous precedent by Montreal’s leadership who just communicated that in order to worship, in a church mind you, that a permit from the governing authorities is needed!

These seemingly coordinated crackdowns have raised serious questions about the health of free speech, religious freedom, and persecution of Christians in Canada today.

Feucht, a vocal champion of conservative ideals and the MAGA movement, isn’t new to controversy. His vocal resistance to abortion, gender ideology, and what he refers to as the “progressive agenda” has made him a prime target who have labeled him as being “divisive.”

Nevertheless, Feucht’s “Let Us Worship” movement, which emerged as a reaction to lockdown COVID-19 regulations, is actually about coming together to worship freely and to pray for revival. His events aren’t political rallies but religious gatherings founded upon Christian theology, thus making the motives behind Canadian authorities seeking to shut them down deeply disturbing.

Canadian officials and activists alike have framed his presence in the country as threatening, claiming that he is spreading “hate” and “intolerance” due to his Christian beliefs. If this is what they think about a Christian from America, imagine what they must think about Christians in Canada!

The cancellations began in Halifax, when the license for a concert at the York Redoubt National Historic Site was cancelled by Parks Canada over “evolving safety and security considerations” and planned protests. The same grounds were cited in Charlottetown, where the city demonstrated its support for the 2SLGBTQ+ community at Pride Fest 2025, and in Moncton, where authorities claimed that Feucht’s event violated their facility’s code of conduct. In Quebec City, ExpoCité canceled a contract after finding out the “controversial” reputation of the artist, even though the event was hired out by an agent, BURN Canada, without at first disclosing Feucht’s name.

After these coordinated cancellations, the Ministerios Restauración Church in Montreal opened its doors and was charged $2,500 for hosting the unscheduled concert, with the city claiming it violated permitting laws and was against Montreal values of “inclusion, solidarity, and respect.”

Whilst at the church, smoke bombs were thrown at him on stage, but he continued onward. “Here’s the hard truth,” he wrote on X, “if I had rolled up here in purple hair and a skirt, claimed to be a woman, the government would not have said a word.” But to publicly avow profound Christian beliefs is to be labeled an extremist—and to have open worship services considered ‘public safety risks.’

He continued, “This trend of cancellations and fines violates a double standard that is disturbing. Canadian cities openly host Pride parades and other festivals celebrating causes that are progressive, in many instances in taxpayer-subsidized public spaces.”

Feucht has resisted with defiance, refusing to back down: “They can take away our permits across Canada, but they can’t steal away our joy,” he tweeted on X, sharing videos of the devout throngs to other locations like farmers’ fields and churches. How is it that a Christian prayer meeting is proclaimed a threat to “community cohesion” and shut down on flimsy grounds whilst naked men roam the streets in the month of June, guided by police escort?

In Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia, Feucht held a concert on private property owned by Lighthouse Ministries, where individuals worshipped openly even when they received derogatory messages and threats.

James Turk, director of the Centre for Free Expression at Toronto Metropolitan University, warned how this sequence of events is a “red flag” for democracy. “The price of democracy is putting up with thoughts we dislike or disagree with,” Turk told CBC News, and he’s right, if Canada restricts events only to those with a limited shared set of “inclusive” values, then it will shut down opposition and diminish the very freedoms it claims to uphold.

The reaction against Feucht’s tour also shows an anti-Christian bigotry that has taken root in Canadian institutions. As David Krayden wrote in Human Events, “No, the secularists, the woke crowd, the enemies of freedom cannot kill God or destroy Christianity. But the question really is whether Canada is dead as a democratic nation.”

Feucht himself amplified that he has faced less animosity performing shows in Middle Eastern countries than in Canada, a country founded on Judeo-Christian principles.

The irony is stark: a country that prides itself on tolerance is intolerant of Christians for expressing their faith openly.

Detractors of Feucht claim that his views on social issues make his concerts divisive but dissension is not peril. Free speech and religious freedom include the privilege of holding and voicing unpopular beliefs.

By cancelling Feucht’s concerts and fining churches for having him as a guest, Canadian authorities aren’t protecting public safety—presumably, they are punishing ideological nonconformity. This sets a negative precedent, suggesting that certain viewpoints, particularly those based on traditional Christian doctrine, are not tolerable in the public sphere.

Feucht’s tour will also be in late August in Western Canada, with scheduled stops in Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Edmonton, West Kelowna, and Abbotsford. Others, like West Kelowna’s Kaz Zvanitajs, argue that events like this must be restricted to churches, not public facilities, but this only continues the exclusion of Christians. Public facilities are for all Canadians, not just those who are within the prevailing cultural orthodoxy.

Sean Feucht’s experience in Canada is a wake-up call to the West. It’s time for believers to stand up against the insidious authoritarianism that is trying to silence faith and free speech.

As Feucht stated, “We will not cower in the face of religious persecution—whether in America, Canada, or anywhere else.” Canadians who believe in liberty should join him and make sure the country is a place where all voices, Christian voices included, can be heard.
