Trump: America Will Obey Scripture and Defend the Fatherless

“Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.” James 1:27

Only Donald J. Trump could take a decades-long national disgrace, the collapse of America’s foster care system, and transform it into both an economic boom and a profound moral statement.

This week, the President signed the executive order “Fostering the Future of American Children and Families,” directing federal muscle to fix a broken pipeline that has left tens of thousands of American kids adrift and the workforce short of productive citizens.

Numbers at present are brutal: just 50% of foster youth graduate high school. A shocking 3% earn a college degree. That’s an economic catastrophe. President Trump sees what the so-called compassion industry refuses to admit: every child rescued from foster-care limbo is a future taxpayer, innovator, and family-builder added back to the American economy.

But the President went further, exposing the real scandal that keeps the system broken. Radical blue-state bureaucracies in places like California and Colorado have been systematically barring Bible-believing Christian families from fostering vulnerable children, all in the name of “LGBTQ rights.”

President Trump’s order slams the door on discriminatory policies that “inappropriately prohibit participation in federally-funded child-welfare programs” because of religious beliefs or “adherence to basic biological truths.” Translation: if you receive even one dollar of federal money, you no longer get to wage culture-war vendettas against Christians who actually want to open their homes.

The order further instructs HHS to ramp up partnerships with churches and faith-based organizations, the very institutions that built America’s orphan-care system long before government decided it could do better.

At the signing ceremony, President Trump delivered one of the most overtly biblical moments of his presidency: “The Bible tells us that one of the measures of any society is how it cares for vulnerable children and orphans.” He then added impromptu emphasis, “so important, and it’s so big in the Bible,” before returning to the text “so as we Make America Great Again, we are going to protect American children in foster care.”

Whilst many immediately pounced on his statement, whining that the President didn’t use a direct quote from the Bible, they completely missed the forest for the trees. From Deuteronomy to James 1:27, Scripture hammers the theme relentlessly: pure faith means defending the fatherless.

And here’s the part that should give every believer hope: Donald Trump almost certainly didn’t come up with that summary on his own, and that’s a very good thing.

All throughout the Trump administration are serious Christians feeding the President real biblical wisdom. Whether it’s HUD Secretary Scott Turner leading Cabinet Bible studies or speechwriters with actual seminary training, the 45th (and 47th) President is listening to godly counselors. As Proverbs declares, “in an abundance of counselors there is victory.”

For decades, the Church has been pushed to the margins of child welfare while secular agencies floundered. Now, with one signature, Donald Trump has flung the doors wide open again. The same God who sets the lonely in families (Psalm 68:6) just got a powerful new ally in the White House.

Thanks to President Trump’s order, thousands of Christian families who were previously blacklisted for their beliefs now have the federal government standing in their corner.

Christian America, the harvest is plentiful, but the workers have been locked out—until now. The question is no longer whether the government will let us obey James 1:27.

The question is: will we answer the call?
