Bill Maher Criticizes MSM Ignoring Christian Genocide in Nigeria

Atheist comedian, Bill Maher, has raised the alarm on behalf of Christians in Nigeria who are facing severe persecution for their faith whilst the mainstream media remains silent.
Host of the “Real Time with Bill Maher” highlighted the plight of believers who are being “systematically killed” in a brutal genocide whilst his peers continue to turn a blind eye to the harsh reality overseas. Instead, those in the mainstream media choose to fixate on the situation in Gaza.
“[T]he fact that this issue has not gotten on people’s radar, it’s pretty amazing,” Maher said. “If you don’t know what’s going on in Nigeria, your media sources suck; you are in a bubble.”
He continued, “I’m not a Christian, but they are systematically killing the Christians in Nigeria. They’ve killed over a hundred thousand since 2009. They’ve burned 18,000 churches. These are the Islamists, Boko Haram. This is so much more of a genocide attempt than what is going on in Gaza. They are literally attempting to wipe out the Christian population of an entire country.”
Amidst those protesting on the streets of America in solidarity with those in Gaza, Maher asked, “where are the kids protesting this?”
Open Doors, a watchdog for Christian persecution which ranks nations based upon how open they are to the existence of Christians in their nation, currently ranks Nigeria as No. 7 on its World Watch List.
“According to Open Doors research more Christians are killed for their faith in Nigeria than in the rest of the world combined,” the report states.
Earlier this year, an NGO based in Nigeria called the International Society for Civil Liberties and the Rule of Law reported staggering numbers that 125,009 Christians have been murdered by Islamist terrorists since 2009.
Additionally, there have been 19,100 churches burned down in that same timeframe.
What we know at this point, more than 7,000 Christians in Nigeria have been murdered by terrorists. Please pray for our persecuted brothers and sisters as they face the brutality in their home country. Pray for their safety and for their bold witness.
