Same Demons, Different Days

Same Demons, Different Days - Revival Nation News - Blog

It’s taken me a couple of days since the release of the Epstein files to write something about them. If I’m to be completely transparent, I wasn’t going to write anything about them. But there was this consistent gnawing away at me, something about the underlying layers of this issue that I couldn’t shake. And then it hit me…

The enemy isn’t innovative; he’s the king of the repeat. Satan’s playbook is merely recycled across centuries.

The fresh release of the Epstein files have once again pulled back the curtain on the depravity that can fester amongst humanity. Confirmations of exploitation, abuse, and networks shielding the elite feel shockingly familiar not necessarily because they’re new, but because they echo an ancient pattern.

The same spiritual forces that corrupted ancient Israel under wicked leadership are at work today, manifesting in modern forms of sexual immorality, exploitation of the vulnerable, and the silence (or complicity) of those who should be speaking out.

This whole debacle reminded me of the prophet Elijah who, during the reign of King Ahab, saw ancient Israel descend into a depth wickedness that parallels our modern headlines: satanic rituals were being promoted by their leaders, there was widespread sexual immorality linked to idol worship, and even the sacrifice of children to false gods like Baal and Molech were a regular occurrence.

The nation had drifted from far God, and many were in spiritual compromise and the voices of the godly were muted. Sound familiar? The parallels to contemporary America are almost too precise.

But it was at this point in the story, that everything changed.
God sent Elijah to confront the darkness of his time, going before King Ahab who greeted him with a revealing accusation: “Is that you, O troubler of Israel?” (1 Kings 18:17). Isn’t it interesting how Ahab didn’t see Elijah as a deliverer but as the problem. This is the reputation every child of God should have, one who rattles the wicked.

In response to Ahab, Elijah responded: “I have not troubled Israel, but you and your father’s house have, because you have abandoned the commandments of the Lord and followed the Baals” (1 Kings 18:18). In this moment, Elijah didn’t merely point fingers at corruption, he dismantled neutrality!

Elijah went on to gather the people at Mount Carmel and issued the following challenge: “How long will you go limpingbetween two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal, then follow him” (1 Kings 18:21). In that moment, indecision stood exposed as allegiance to the wrong side. The people had been trying to hedge their bets, blending worship of Yahweh with Baal, but Elijah forced a choice.

Then came the demonstration: altars were prepared and prayers were offered. Whilst the prophets of Baal danced, shouted, and cut themselves from morning till evening, their idol remained silent. Meanwhile, Elijah’s altar was drenched with water three times over and in an instant, it was consumed by fire from heaven. The undeniable power of God prevailed, and judgment followed for the false prophets.

And this is where we must come to understand our personal roles to play as citizens of heaven, as well as citizens of earth; we are called to be like Elijah and be known as “troublers” in the camp of the wicked.

Screaming at the darkness achieves little; it’s in the redirection of hearts to the light and calling people out of compromise and into complete devotion to God, this is when God Himself reveals His power, His justice, and His mercy.

Nearly 900 years later, another figure emerged carrying that same mantle and his name was John the Baptist. He came “in the spirit and power of Elijah” (Luke 1:17) and confronted corrupt elites like Herod, but his primary mission was repentance: preparing the way for the Lord by turning hearts back to God.

There was no mincing of words with John, he called out sin and urged genuine change. His urgency, boldness, and fixation on redemption mirrored Elijah’s.

That same spirit is desperately needed today.
In every nation, the people of God face modern “Ahabs” and systems that protect wickedness, yet the answer isn’t for us to rage or for there to be endless exposure without direction.

No! The answer is to walk with Elijah’s courage, with John’s urgency, and with the love of Christ Jesus. We must challenge the limping, the fence-sitting, the neutrality that enables evil. We are the watchmen on the wall, the ones who are charged with pointing people not just away from darkness, but toward the One who is the Light.

Imagine the transformation if more believers embraced this calling! The demons may wear different masks in different eras but they’re the same ancient forces.

The days may change, but the battle does not.
Be a troubler in your nation, a man or woman whose goal isn’t destruction but deliverance.
