Epstein Files Going Public Thanks To A DOJ Subpoena

The Department of Justice (DOJ) is gearing up to release documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein case later this week into the hands of the Oversight Committee following a subpoena that was sent to the DOJ earlier this month.

This move comes after the Justice Department’s internal review in July, which concluded that convicted pedophile, Jeffrey Epstein, didn’t have a so-called “client list” and that there was no evidence he was blackmailing high-profile figures.

A spokesperson for the House Oversight Committee explained that the documents will be made public only after they’ve been carefully reviewed and sensitive information is redacted: “We’re going to release the records once we’ve made sure all victims’ identities and any child sexual abuse material are fully removed,” the spokesperson said in a statement.

They also noted that the committee will work with the DOJ to ensure the release doesn’t interfere with any ongoing criminal cases or investigations.

In an official statement, Committee Chairman James Comer shared how the DOJ has been cooperative with the subpoena, saying: There are many records in DOJ’s custody, and it will take the Department time to produce all the records and ensure the identification of victims and any child sexual abuse material are redacted. I appreciate the Trump Administration’s commitment to transparency and efforts to provide the American people with information about this matter.”

He also gave a nod to the Trump administration, saying, “I’m grateful for their commitment to being open and their work to share this information with the American public.”

According to the official statement released by Comer: “On August 5, Chairman Comer issued a subpoena to the U.S. Department of Justice for records related to Epstein. The same day, he also issued deposition subpoenas to Bill and Hillary Clinton, James Comey, Loretta Lynch, Eric Holder, Merrick Garland, Robert Mueller, William Barr, Jeff Sessions, and Alberto Gonzales for testimony related to horrific crimes perpetrated by Jeffrey Epstein.”
