Kid Rock’s Gospel Moment Steals the Spotlight at TPUSA’s Halftime Show

While Bad Bunny took the stage at Super Bowl LIX’s official halftime show, a competing event was drawing its own massive audience online.
Turning Point USA hosted what they called the “All-American Halftime Show,” streaming live across multiple platforms and attracting approximately 5 million concurrent viewers at its peak.
KID ROCK with a powerful message!

“Theres a book that’s sitting in your house somewhere that could use some dusting off. There’s a man who died for all our sins hanging from the cross. You can give your life to Jesus, and he’ll give you a second chance”pic.twitter.com/fgbNcRj6Qk
The event, featuring country artists Brantley Gilbert, Gabby Barrett, Lee Brice, and headliner Kid Rock, positioned itself as a celebration of “faith, family, and freedom,” a deliberate contrast to mainstream entertainment that organizers suggested had abandoned traditional American values.
The criticism of the official halftime show extended beyond TPUSA’s event itself with boxer and social media personality Jake Paul taking to X shortly after Bad Bunny’s performance to express his disappointment with what he called a missed opportunity to unite the country.
“This is the Super Bowl. This is America’s game,” Paul wrote. “We deserved something that brings us together, not divides us further.” His comments went viral, adding fuel to the ongoing cultural debate over corporations pushing specific agendas at major sporting events.
Despite the direction of the NFL, five million Americans made their voices heard by tuning out Bad Bunny and tuning into Kid Rock’s performance! Taking the stage with his guitar, Rock performed a cover of Cody Johnson’s emotional hit “‘Til You Can’t.” The real surprise came when he unveiled an additional verse he claimed was divinely inspired.
“I woke up one morning, and these words were just there,” Rock told the audience before launching into the new lyrics: “There’s a book sitting in your house somewhere that could use some dusting off. There’s a man who died, for all our sins, hanging from a cross. You can give your life to Jesus, and he’ll give you a second chance… Until you can’t.”
The addition transformed the performance from a straightforward country cover into an explicit evangelistic message, urging listeners to embrace Christianity before it’s too late. This unexpectedly moving moment aligned perfectly with the event’s stated values and the revival sweeping across the nation.

Another fascinating element to this story comes by way of TMZ who held a poll which found 83% of the 50,00 people polled at the time saying Kid Rock had a “BETTER halftime show” than Bad Bunny!
Whilst TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk built the organization into a major conservative voice on college campuses, this halftime show appears to represent an expansion into large-scale cultural events designed to compete directly with mainstream entertainment.
What was clearly on display through TPUSA’s halftime show was that there’s a substantial audience hungry for content that explicitly celebrates patriotic and Christian values, and Kid Rock’s performance may well be remembered as the defining moment of that cultural statement.
The full event remains available for streaming, and view counts have continued to climb across platforms.
