Bible sales have seen an explosive surge in the United States according to a new report. A 22 percent increase was recorded through the end of October compared to the same period last year!
For perspective, overall physical book sales saw less than a 1 percent increase during the same timeframe, according to data by Circana BookScan.
Social anxieties and a longing for hope are two reasons experts and industry leaders are attributing the increase in sales to as reported by the Wall Street Journal.
“People are experiencing anxiety themselves, or they’re worried for their children and grandchildren,” said Jeff Crosby, president of the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association.
“It’s related to artificial intelligence, election cycles… and all of that feeds a desire for assurance that we’re going to be OK.”
Recently it was also reported that young men in America are starting to attend church more than they have in recent decades.
Megan Basham, a New York Times bestseller and reporter at the Daily Wire posted that such headlines concerning Bible purchases and young men in church are “The kind of trend lines that could restore a nation.”
Bible sales up 22 percent. Young men more religious than young women for the first time since pollsters started tracking. Good trend lines. The kind of trend lines that could restore a nation. pic.twitter.com/ZNFl7RdSjc

Commenting on the news, Bishop Alan DiDio posted on X saying, “The headlines may scream chaos, but believers, get ready… God’s about to flip the script. With the world on edge, our faith’s the new rebellion. Prepare yourself for the comeback of the century.
The Word’s going viral, and revival’s trending. Each of these sales is bag of seeds being cast upon many waters. Get ready for the harvest!”
Despite data showing a rise in secularism across the United States, Bible sales reached 14.2 million copies in 2023, a significant increase from 9.7 million in 2019. By October of this year, 13.7 million copies had already been sold.
Continue to pray for our nation, as well as take credible action so that many others may come to Christ!
This point in history won’t look the way we think it will but God knows exactly what is to come. Our job is to be obedient, to be faithful and to not cease in reaching the lost for Christ!
