The Fauci Diaries: Self-Obsession, Flip-Flops, and Deliberate COVID Deception Exposed

Senator Rand Paul released over 1,000 pages of Anthony Fauci’s personal diary Monday, exposing a pattern of self-obsession, celebrity worship, and deliberate deception about the origins of COVID-19. The diary, covering March through December 2022, was obtained through subpoena with assistance from HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. While billions of people suffered in sickness, isolation, and fear under policies Fauci championed, the former NIAID director spent his time fawning over emails from Barbara Streisand and marveling at his own global fame.

In a May 2020 entry, Fauci wrote, “It is not hyperbole to say that today I am the most famous and talked about person in the country and one of the most recognizable persons in the world.” He recounted correspondence with celebrities, described actress Julia Roberts as fascinated by him, “she gasped and said that every time she sees me her throat gets dry and she gets nervous”, and detailed how he was “outshining” President Trump. “Apparently the WH is very upset that I am being profiled and it looks like I am putting down the POTUS and becoming a star that outshines him,” he wrote. “Very stressful!!”

But the diary’s most damaging revelations concern COVID-19’s origin. In April 2020, Fauci publicly called for China to shut down its wet markets, insisting the Wuhan outdoor live animal market was the source of the outbreak. He maintained for years that the virus originated naturally from an animal reservoir jumping to humans.

His private diary tells a different story. On January 26, 2020, Fauci wrote, “It now appears using epi data and genomic data that the first infection was in early December and was not connected to the market.” He continued, “Now we know the market was not the source, it was the amplifier.” Yet publicly, he continued blaming the market for months.

By May 2021, Fauci privately acknowledged growing pressure to investigate the lab leak theory. “I have been saying that no one is 100% certain of the origin, including me, and so I am calling for a thorough investigation,” he wrote. Then he blamed critics: “However, this is being interpreted as Fauci flip-flopping again. The far right is really amazing in their distortion of reality.”

Fauci knew he was flip-flopping. He just didn’t want to admit it publicly.

Senator Paul, who has questioned Fauci’s COVID origin narrative for years, said the diary entries “completely undermine the official narrative that Fauci and other public health officials espoused.” He accused Fauci of demonizing those who questioned him, citing himself as an example.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. told Fox News Monday night that Americans were told to trust Fauci as the expert. “Anybody who did not give complete blind faith to these expert opinions, which we now know were lies, was marginalized, vilified, demonized, and censored.”

Paul will question Fauci in a congressional hearing, seeking accountability for what the diary reveals: a man who knew the wet market wasn’t the source in January 2020, publicly blamed it anyway in April 2020, privately admitted uncertainty in May 2021, then blamed critics for noticing his contradictions—all while obsessing over his own celebrity status.

The reckoning is coming. The hearings will determine whether Fauci faces consequences for years of documented deception.
