CONFIRMED: Planned Parenthood’s Title X Funding Ends 2026

The Trump administration confirmed this week that Planned Parenthood will receive its final year of Title X family planning grants, with officials pledging to restructure the program along pro-life lines in the next funding cycle.

White House spokesman Kush Desai stated that the administration had no choice but to release the funds, citing ongoing legal battles that prevented it from redirecting the money earlier.

“The administration has issued the fifth and final year of Title X grants that were locked in place during the Biden presidency,” Desai said, adding that significant legal challenges had blocked efforts to halt the disbursements sooner.
Desai was careful to note that Title X dollars are prohibited by law from being used to fund abortions directly, and that the administration remains committed to reshaping the program in line with President Trump’s executive order enforcing the Hyde Amendment.

The announcement drew immediate criticism from prominent pro-life voices, who argued the administration had missed an opportunity to act sooner. Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of SBA Pro-Life America, called the continued funding a political misstep.

“This is a clear abandonment,” Dannenfelser said, pointing out that the first Trump administration had enacted the Protect Life Rule to cut off Title X funding to Planned Parenthood. She warned the decision could dampen enthusiasm among pro-life voters heading into November.

Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America, pushed back on the administration’s legal rationale, arguing that the same logic should compel enforcement of the Comstock Act, which she says prohibits mailing abortion-inducing drugs.

The Department of Health and Human Services had restored the grants in January to resolve lawsuits brought by pro-abortion advocates. Title X funds support a range of so-called “family planning” services, including contraception, cancer screenings, and STI testing.

HHS is expected to announce a new Title X grant opportunity in the coming weeks, with criteria aimed at prioritizing pro-life and pro-family outcomes.
