Supreme Court Delivers Crushing Blow to Vaccine Mandates

This week marked the collapse of COVID-era vaccine mandates in American history, as the court upheld a lower-court ruling for Amish parents and struck down a Second Circuit decision that had protected New York’s “no religious exemption” school policy.
The United States Supreme Court (SCOTUS) has upheld a lower-court ruling in favor of Amish parents, obliterating a Second Circuit opinion that had tried to shield New York’s tyrannical “no religious exemption” school policy.
At the heart of this historic victory is the case of Miller v. McDonald, where on December 8, the High Court vacated the prior Second Circuit judgment, sending it back for reconsideration in light of the June 2025 precedent Mahmoud v. Taylor, which strengthened parental religious rights against school policies.
The Court refused to hear New York’s desperate appeal, letting stand a powerful Third Circuit precedent that declares, in essence: any so-called “neutral” government policy that substantially burdens the free exercise of religion, especially the sacred rights of Christian parents to direct the upbringing and medical decisions of their children, must fall unless the state can prove it is the least restrictive way to achieve a truly compelling interest. New York couldn’t, it never could, and now its mandate is legally dead.
For four long years, faithful families across America have been told that their deeply held biblical convictions about the sanctity of the body, convictions rooted in Scripture’s clear teaching that our bodies are “temples of the Holy Spirit” (1 Cor. 6:19-20), were worthless in the eyes of the state.
Parents who refused experimental mRNA shots on religious grounds were threatened with the removal of their children from school, the loss of custody, and the full weight of bureaucratic coercion. This battle intensified with New York’s 2019 decision to eliminate religious exemptions amid a measles outbreak, a move now under scrutiny in Miller v. McDonald.
No more.
The Supreme Court’s action isn’t merely procedural but prophetic. It’s the moment when the highest court in the land reaffirmed what the Founders understood and what every Bible-believing Christian has always known: rights come from God, not government forms, not public-health bureaucrats, and certainly not from pharmaceutical giants.
This ruling resurrects and fortifies the standard set in the Court’s earlier decisions in Fulton v. City of Philadelphia and the remnants of Employment Division v. Smith.
“Neutral laws of general applicability” can no longer be used as a battering ram against religious conscience. When the state crushes parental authority over the bodies and souls of children, it is no longer acting as a minister of God (Rom. 13:4) but as an agent of Antichrist.
New York’s godless experiment is finished, but make no mistake: the same legal reasoning now hangs like the sword of Damocles over every blue-state mandate still standing.
Connecticut, California, Maine, and every other jurisdiction that stripped religious exemptions in a panic are next in line. The precedent is set. The grenade pin has been pulled. The mandates are already exploding. This national shift is underscored by recent developments, such as West Virginia’s reinstatement of its vaccine mandate ban on religious exemptions on December 3, 2025, highlighting the ongoing debate across states.
This victory belongs, first and foremost, to the Lord Jesus Christ, who still sits enthroned above the nations. It also belongs to the quiet, humble Amish families who refused to bow the knee, bravely challenging New York’s policy in Miller v. McDonald. And finally, it belongs to every pastor, parent, and patriot who prayed, marched, sued, and voted while the evangelical establishment wrung its hands and told us to “render unto Caesar” whatever the experts demanded.
Today, Caesar has been reminded that there are some things he cannot have.
The era of medical coercion masquerading as public health is over. The religious exemption isn’t merely “back,” it is back with teeth, backed by the full force of the United States Constitution and, more importantly, by the law of Almighty God.
The tide has turned, and the giants are falling, and the faithful remnant has once again shown that when we stand unashamed on the Word of God, even the gates of hell cannot prevail against us.
