“We are moving Jesus out of the basement. To all the great midshipmen at the Merchant Marine Academy, you let me know how important this painting was to all of you,” said Secretary Sean Duffy.

U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced a historic painting of Jesus Christ will be returned to its place of prominence at the Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York, after Biden officials had it removed.

Duffy’s announcement to relocate the painting, officially titled “Christ on the Water,” caused roars of cheers to break out from service men and women. “You want Jesus up from the basement, right? Great!” he said.

Painted in 1944 by Lt. Hunter Wood, “Christ on the Water” was made as “a tribute to all merchant seamen, especially to cadet-midshipmen who had been torpedoed during World War II” according to the Academy’s website.

In 2023, the Biden administration removed the painting from the Elliot M. See Room at the Academy and placed it in the hallway below the Memorial Chapel after a complaint was filed by the Military Religious Freedom Foundation.

From establishment of a Religious Freedom Commission, to installing faith leaders in several government departments, to the open proclamation of Jesus Christ as Lord; this administration is putting in the effort, both in word and deed, to put Jesus at the center of it all.
